Prof. Le Chi Ngoc (Photo: Dr. Vu Thanh Nam)<\/span><\/p>\n The <\/span>Data Science and Applications Group<\/b>, under the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, was established under Decision No. 2501\/Q\u0110-\u0110HBK dated March 21, 2024, issued by the President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST). The Group is tasked with conducting research and teaching in data science and its real-world applications. The contents of data science and its applications are integrated into core and specialized courses of undergraduate and graduate programs in Mathematics Informatics, and Management Information Systems.<\/span><\/p>\n Data science is an interdisciplinary field that combines mathematics, statistics, computer programming, advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning with domain expertise to uncover non-trivial information and actionable knowledge hidden in data. Research in data science also covers big data management and mining technologies, which are among the main foundations of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0). Applications of data science are driving profound changes in many areas such as healthcare, medical services, manufacturing, business, and finance.<\/span><\/p>\n Inheriting and building upon the University\u2019s and the Faculty\u2019s tradition of high-quality human resource training, the Group has always focused on developing and improving the quality of the courses assigned to it. The contents of each course are designed to be up-to-date, modern, aligned with program requirements, and closely connected with real-world practices and technological advancements.
